The Yamhill Valley Farmhouse

This couple had lived in Portland for twenty years before finding their land outside McMinnville. They wanted a home that honored the agricultural character of the valley without feeling like a replica of something old. The answer was a modern farmhouse — clean lines, natural materials, and rooms that open to the land.

The kitchen became the heart of the design. As avid home cooks and frequent hosts, they needed a space that could handle a dinner party for twelve as easily as a Tuesday night. We designed twin islands — one for prep, one for gathering — with premium appliances and custom cabinetry that balances beauty with serious function.

The open-plan living and dining area features tall ceilings and hardwood floors that run continuously from the entry through to the covered patio. The dining room, with recessed lighting and space for a ten-seat table, sits between the kitchen and living room — positioned for conversation, not isolation.
