Why the Roller Coaster Happens

The dips in that lighter line almost always come from the same place — the seams between people. The architect hands off to the builder. The builder hands off to the subcontractors. Somewhere in those handoffs the intent behind your design gets lost, the budget drifts, and you become the person stuck relaying messages between parties who have never met.
