Q&A – Why Schedule A Job Site Visit With Your Builder

Why it is important to schedule a job site visit to your custom building project?

So I have a builder friend who had a bad situation occur. It’s an awful situation, but similar things have happened more than once. This builder had a client come out to the project on the weekend. The project was framed up, but there were some guardrails that were not properly attached. The homeowner was walking around inside the home and unfortunately fell from one story to another and became disabled. It was a very unfortunate situation.

The job site is not a safe place. It’s not a place we want children running around. It’s not a place we really want anyone who’s not a professional in the industry walking around and being exposed to the dangers on the site. There are fall hazards and other potential hazards to be aware of. And while we work very hard to make our site safe, it’s a good policy to schedule the times that we come out and we walk the site together. Doing otherwise leaves the construction company liable for a lot of potential problems and opens up the client and anyone else they bring out to have a bad experience.
